Colors are a powerful tool in an artist's arsenal that can evoke emotion, mimic depth and distance in two-dimensions, and add the illusion of life to your artwork. To get the most out of them, we need to understand their various relationships within the color wheel.
And, let's face it, they're super fun to play with.
Today we'll learn one of the basic relationships of color - analogous colors, or neighboring colors. I'll show you how easy they are to work with as well as how to keep them from overwhelming your artwork (they're super tight neighbors after all) through examples and our class project - a painting based on your choice of analogous colors.
