Description
The course is based on a definition of the correct approach to take when making a scientific presentation. Many scientists dislike scientific storytelling because they think it is a distortion of facts. The first point to clarify is this: scientific storytelling means telling the facts, but interestingly, no alterations will be suggested.The contents must remain scientific data and information but the form in which they are reported is narrative. Before focusing on the message you need to convey, we will focus on the type of audience you want to address.The exercises are created to help you discover the type of audience you are addressing and consequently the type of sentences you can use to capture their attention.The second step to take is the definition of your message. During the course, we will address this aspect. From the third session onwards I will guide you to define your structure, the and the number of words necessary to reach your goal. And finally, in the last session, we will focus on the phrases and words you can use to deliver your message to your audience. Deep attention will be given to the choice of the point of view from which to convey your message and why you write. Do you write to explain a concept or do you write to persuade During the course, we will answer this question.In the course, there are exercises to do which are very important to train your talent. There are no magic secrets in this course because the only way to improve your writing skills is to write on your own. I also offer you my solutions, you are not alone on this journey! I invite you to do the exercise by yourself first, without using the internet and without copying and pasting! When you have finished the exercise, take some to read it aloud or to compare it with a reader, after which compare your solution with the solution proposed by me. My narrative choices are just examples, I'm sure you have a different style from mine. And frankly, I hope so because this means that you understood the spirit of the course. Learn the techniques but remain unique in your narrative choices. Have fun and thank you for participating in the course!
